British Butterflies in New Zealand!

Post by DaveNZ »

Kia ora (Hello)
I spent my teen years in the UK & collected a lot of British Butterflies. I still enjoy looking at my collection, my photos & reading up all about British Butterflies. I have just ordered the new edition of Butterflies of Great Britain & Ireland; can't wait to get it.
We only have 16 species of Butterfly in NZ. If anyone is coming out from the UK & is interested in Butterflies, I would love to hear from them. Does anyone know of someone in NZ who has any British Butterflies?
Any help/contact would be really appreciated.

Kind wishes & I hope you have a decent summer with lots of Buttereflies on the wing!

There may be a fair few more than 16 species. Those coppers appear to be a species complex. A lot of work is needed there, but it'll be hard to sort them out with a camera, no matter how good your macro lens is........

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterflies_of_New_Zealand there is 20 Species, but it says the list is incomplete.
