With any luck hopefully some time this month!

I was in south of France last week and it was only around 15c even there. I think the whole of Europe is in the same boat...

I also notice the forecast for where I'm off to in North Norway in July has it as warm there as here for the end of the week... and that's inside the arctic circle!

Even though the sun was warm the wind was FREEZING!!
I was at Lough Neagh, Co Armagh, NI last saturday morning, and I saw the sun was warm when you got in it, but the wind was really blowing and cold. Days are usually good for butterflies, I have been seeing quite afew latley, such as 42 Reals Wood white, 2 orange tip, 4 green veined white etc... on saturday, but the nights are bad for moths though. From the weekend onwards is supposed to get warmer, but rainy at times too.
Cheers all,

Thanks, guys. I can't believe that we are still getting frosts at night in May.

If you can find the butterflies in the cold weather they are very easily approached.

I was photographing fritillaries everywhere in France in the rain last week. They were on the same flower all day some days!

Sorry - It's all my fault....
Basking in 20c temperatures here in Finland today, I notice I appear to have sent their weather back to the UK!
...don't worry, I'm back on Saturday, so expect it to be fine and dry when I return ...

Saturday and Sunday are forecast for warmer weather (17-18 degrees in London) with sunny spells. Pefect!

I have the whole weekend to myself - time for a couple of trips out I reckon....

Cheers

It's been unremittingly grim here in the Alps for two weeks - never known such a dismal spring. On Sunday butterflies were resorting to flying in drizzle, under overcast skies, and since then it's been mostly rain. Even in the Rhône Valley temperatures are not forecast to rise above 15°C this weekend.

I was wondering if it was the Ash cloud that is affecting the weather? Thought it might be as the weather was good before it appeared. I don't think the cold winter could have made it colder this spring too.

It's the wind direction that's making it so cold at the moment.

Thank goodness temperatures are getting back towards what they should be but i do wonder if long term the ash in the atmosphere will cause colder summers for the next couple of years.

Thank goodness we are not as directly connected to conditions as our ancestors were because after the exceptionally long bitter winter and the cold spring with night time frosts in May we'd all be starving.

Well this weekend temps are around 10C warmer than they should be for this time of year, next weeks temps (13-15C highs) are what it should be like in May, it feels like late June or early July today (25C here)

My car had been sitting in the sun this afternoon but when we got into it to come home it said 32 degrees and it felt more like Spain in August than walking around in Loxwood, West Sussex, in May except everthing was so beautifully lush and green. Abso-flipping-lovely! Love it

Me too. By 4 in the afternoon it felt like the Med here in SE Wales. Perfect conditions. Not a single cloud from dawn till dusk, light winds and 25C. Sadly, by Tuesday, we're going to be back to 16C.

Was 26C here today, close to teps in Madrid... apparently Rome was cooler than parts ot the UK today! Also last night it was very mild here, someone in France said it was around 7C low there during the night, now thats odd, it was 21C until 11pm then ow was 15C! I went to stragford lough to search around for moths for a few hours, and first this year I wore a short sleeved shirt there at 10pm without feeling cold. odd thats for sure.
