Hi,
I have two caterpilars for ID.
The first one: photo1, photo2 (Garden or Brown Tiger?)
.. and the second: photo3, photo4.
Can anybody say species of these caterpilars, please?
Thanks,
traplican

Re: Cats for ID
The first one might be Ruby Tiger, Phragmatobia fuliginosa. I found a larva very like this on Sunday.
Re: Cats for ID
Thanks Matsukaze for your reaction but my first photos resemble rather Hyphoraia aulica, http://www.leps.it/indexjs.htm?SpeciesP ... oAulic.htm for me:
For better comparison I have submitted two pictures into my personal album and display ones below:
I only want to confirm this determination.
P.S.: The second ones show maybe an earlier stage of the same species, compare with this image:

Re: Cats for ID
I just have obtained the message from the Czech Enthomological Institute that the second (black) caterpillar is most probably the Wood Tiger - Parasemia plantaginis and the first one is most probably Hyphoraia aulica. But determination is only approximate because too few differentiation marks are perceptible.

Re: Cats for ID
Yesterday I have returned to the same place, found about 8 red-haired caterpillars with concipiously oblonged dark trichomas at the back and shot lots of photos and some videos. Confirmed by the expert of the Entomological Institute: This is definitively Hyphoraia aulica!
