Butterflies land on the iTunes store

Butterflies land on the iTunes store
====================================

Those of you lucky enough to have an iPhone or iPod Touch can now download our newest product from the app store. We've taken our popular Butterflies of Britain and Ireland software and converted it into an easy-to-use, portable field guide just in time for the butterfly season. You can find out more over at iTunes:

Many butterflies are on the wing already, and we're all hoping for a sunny summer to improve their fortunes. You can find out more about our interactive butterfly software at:

This is a great little application with clear illustrations of all stages of butterfly life, some good photos and a handy amount of information. For the price I would recommend it.

This was one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my iPhone but I didn't notice until tonight that a certain Pete Eeles is credited with most of the still photos!

It's a really great app. It would be wonderful if Tolman and Lewington could be turned into a similar thing for European butterflies...

Guilty :)

I agree (and not because some of my photos are included!) - and have it on my iPod Touch.

I'm not aware of any immediate plans to produce a European guide. But if you're interested in contributing, Guy, I can put you in touch. I can't think of a more-credible candidate. Although BirdGuides use Lewington's work, I'm not sure if they have a relationship with Collins (the T&L publisher) or who owns the copyright to the content.

Cheers,

- Pete

I'd certainly be interested in such a project! I never carry a book with me when I go butterflying, because of the weight, but sometimes I do need to check things up and I just have to wait till I get home.
