AES Exhibition

Post by Pete Eeles »

Hi all,

I'm thinking of booking a table at the AES Exhibition (http://www.amentsoc.org/events/exhibitions.html) this year - with a view to offloading UK Butterflies calendars and some WildGuides books (as the main website sponsor). All profits will go to Butterfly Conservation.

If you'd be interested in helping "man the stand", even if it's only for an hour (say), then please reply to this thread - that will help me make a decision on whether to book a table!

Cheers,

- Pete

I am sure I could manage an hour but I may have the sprogs in tow.

Thanks Susie!

Let's see if there are any more responses. I just need the odd 10 minutes here and there for a breather!

You can put me down as a reserve, but this at the height of the Red Deer rut, so I may have to do a afternoon shift. :)

Does Lisa know you intend getting that involved in the competition for hinds? Hope you've polished your antlers
Sorry Gary...I'll get my coat.

Pete: Considering the amount of dubious set specimens that are often for sale at the AES show it may be wise to take a few syringes of 'red deer stag strength' sedative in case Gary looses his cool...!! Just kidding Gary.

I would be happy to help out Pete as I'll be there anyway looking for second hand book bargains.

Felix.

Is there any particular time of day you will need a hand on the stall, Pete, if you do still need a hand.

Thanks for all the offers (and the reminder Sooz) - I think we're covered now - but please do pop along! I'll be manning the table with Gary (Gruditch), Lisa (Gwenny) and Piers (Felix).

It sure was - and a real milestone for UK Butterflies. This was our first AES Exhibition and it was great to meet so many members there - as well as superstars such as Chris Packham (who I missed :? ), Richard Lewington (who has agreed to be interviewed - watch this space), Clive Farrell (Mr. Butterfly World), Chris Manley, etc. etc. Many kindly popped along to the stand to give us their regards - this website really is held in high esteem! Some photos from the day for those that couldn't make it:

I wish that I could have been there. Looks like you all had a great day.
Will the cards be for sale to us (UKB members) as well as the calenders?

They'll be on sale at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight BC AGM (next weekend) and at the National BC AGM on 21st November (in Winchester) where UKB will also have a table.

We're still debating whether or not to sell them via the website. But they are absolutely cracking and Lisa and Gary have really done a superb job with them!

Cheers,

They are great cards, well done Lisa and Gary. :D

The calendar is lovely too and I shall put it up at work so I can look at butterflies when I am not able to actually go out and see them. :?
