Grossly Inaccurate Preconceptions

Post by Zonda »

Felix remarked in Oct 2009 Sightings:
So that was you...! and you're quite right about grossly inacurate preconceptions!
Well it was very good to meet you and very rude of me not to have introduced myself;
To prevent, or help this embarrassing situation being repeated, i am proposing a new 'Member Pics Thread'.

So, fighting back my natural shyness, and wanting to update the photo of me which Lee spotted on my Wiki Contributor page, here goes. Head shots only will be fine, and no full frontals please.

I'm sure that was you being chased out of Sainsbury's the other day....

Maybe a disguise would be an idea, you know, maybe a comedy nose and tash!?

Ha! brilliant. I've just been all through that thread (I am yet to delve too far back since I joined in May) and well, basically none of you look like I thought.

Cheers

There,,,it took a girl to say the right thing. It is all very high tec, you wind up the knob on the end of my nose, and the moustache and eyebrows go up and down, Groucho Marx style. This is why i never wear it butterflying.
Where is the 'Rogues Gallery' thread, i hadn't realised all your pics were on here. :D
Cheers,,, Zonda.

Zonda
There is a very old (1973) Van Morrison track called "Snow in San Anselmo" from the truly excellent "Hard Nose The Highway" album.
Anyway, it is about snow falling, very late at night in a Californian desert town, for the first time in over 30 years (according to his waitress).
There is a line that goes-
"and a madman looking for a fight"
Why did that come to mind when I saw your photo?
Cheers

Dunno, probably says something about your perception of other males. I have several Van Morrison albums, and have not looked for a fight in my lifetime. I'm a Grandpa with a heart condition. :D Do i really look that threatening?

Have to say,,,i really admire all of you 'Butterfly' people, and aspire to the knowledge you all hold. Although my pic is not appealing to some, notably Rogerdodge . My wife thinks it is great, and still loves me. She was the one that did some of the conservation work at Alners Gorse this autumn. I look forward to seeing the Brown Hairstreaks there next year, but knowing me, i'll miss them.
Cheers,,, Zonda.

On the occasion of my 100th post I take this opportunity of dispelling any grossly inaccurate preconceptions by announcing that I have posted a photo of myself on my newly completed photo gallery. It is hidden somewhere in one of my sub-albums under the title of "I like tall birds".

If anyone cares to try to find it or just to browse the gallery just click on the Gallery feature in the Photography forum. Sorry, but even after 100 posts I still can't manage to form a proper link

Cheers,

Vince
