Another Drangonfly ident

Post by Lee Hurrell »

Hi all,

I know nothing about Dragonflies. This was taken today in Somerset. Any ideas on the species?
IMG_1579.JPG
I also saw another dragonfly with sky blue abdomen and lime green thorax (or the other way round...)

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee,

Nice shot, I reckon you have an immature female Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea) there. The coloration in the mature specimen is a lot more striking.
