A Butterfly Twitcher

As you all have most probably guessed, i am a bit of a beginner, butterfly photo twitcher, although i am becoming interested in the squishy bits of the life cycle as well. I've been quite pleased with my progress this season (well since June really), having snapped some of the more common species. However, the Comma has eluded me, and i was camera naked on my two encounters with it. Any tips for nailing a Comma this year????

Hi Zonda,

I haven't seen a Comma in the same type of habitat recently that I did earlier in the summer when they seemed quite common near me.

During September last year I did see quite a few along woodland paths (this was in Somerset mind) along with Peacocks.

I'd wait for a fairly hot sunny autumn day, go for a stroll and take your camera!

Any tips for nailing a Comma this year????

Go and hang around a blackcurrant bush or flowering ivy that is in full sun. I saw 4 this morning

What a good idea. I know where there is a lane full of blackberries. I'll take the wife, she can pick some while i stroll about looking for commas, and at the very least, i'll get a pie out of it.
