Can someone tell me step by step, and in plain English, how i post an image into a topic? At the moment, the only way i can achieve this, is to go off-site, and pick up an url from Picasa. This is a pain. How do i pick up an attachment when writing a reply? I don't seem to be able to post UKB gallery pics in forums either. I know i'm thick, cus i'm from Dorset. I deal with images all the time...I've uploaded to several sites successfully,,,put attachments on my Emails,,,written articles for Wiki,,,so why can't i get a pic into a UKB forum,,, it beggars belief. I might cry at any moment

If the picture is on your own computer, click on 'upload attachment', then browse to the picture you want, like this:



After you have selected the picture, it is uploaded and appears in your post.

Alternatively, use the 'Img' tag and insert the full URL of the image you want to appear.

Or am I missing your point?

I'm probably not familiar with this method. Thanks for trying to help. Where is 'upload attachment'?

After you click on 'post reply' (or 'new post' if you're starting one), 'upload attachment' is below the white writing space, next to 'options'. You can see both in my picture above (I run Windows in French, so some labels and dialogue boxes are different, but those originating with UK Butterflies are mostly in English).

Try uploading something in reply to this and see if it works.

Gosh,,,i'm re-sizing for the gallery to 512, now i have to re-size for posting to forum 256. Well ok, think i'll stick to going off site, or i'll have to keep three of every image, and i'll get in an awful muddle. Thanks Guy.

No need to resize. Up to 800 across is good (bigger than that will not appear properly in many browsers). The attachment (like the purple emperor above) appears as a thumbnail but will expand if you click on it. I just happen to save all my pictures as 500 across because I have several thousand on my website and upload more every day.

The attachment process is quick and easy. I use the Img tag more only because I have all my pictures accessible online anyway.

Thanks for your help and advice on this, but i keep all images as near to the size they were taken at if possible. Getting an external hard drive to keep them on soon. Re-sizing, clumps up pixels, and it's not something i do willingly. Picasa is quite good, because i can just bung them on there without any re-sizing. I can see that if you have your own website to post to, it would be essential to make images smaller. Anyway, on a lighter note,,,i spotted my first Wall yesterday, and here it is.
