Monsoon season!

Post by Denise »

Yesterday it rained in Bristol for 14 hours non-stop.
Today, guess what, it's raining. Not just light drizzle or showers like we were forcast, but heavy rain with some thunder.

Quote from my local wildlife site:-
Since I last wrote (24 hours) 52 mm have fallen on my garden, raising the
July total to 186mm, the second wettest July in Bristol since 1853, (the
earliest record I have managed to find). It is now also the wettest month of
any since October 1987.

How much more is up there?

We have had very little rain here on the Sussex coast . Today has been typical of our weather , a bit of rain overnight , bit windy , sunny and cloudy spells in about equal proportions . Butterflies all flying :D

Rains on/off here between sunshine. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm. Its gotten a bit colder since June I'll say, bit wetter too, but here is mostly sunshine/showers and humid weather.
Cheers all,

Near Horsham we have had some really heavy down pours today. Sunny and very breezy in between those showers.

The garden did need the rain though, the last couple of weeks have made up for months of promised rain which never really happened.

Another drenching today in Dorset. I think all of those Painted ladies are wishing they'd stayed in North Africa.
Cheers,,, Zonda.

Gosh, it is so humid today! It was overcast and very warm and the garden was chock full of butterflies this morning, then we went down to the coast where it was a bit more bearable with the sea breeze but hardly saw any apart from the odd white and painted lady zipping across.

I am bracing myself for the heatwave I think is on the way.
