This is my first year as a "butterflier" and I have become quite obsessed. I am normally a birder but June and July are very quiet for birds so butterflies seemed to fit in quite nicely. I suppose that as the butterfly season is nearly over I will go back to birds, but what do you all do until next April?
Secondly, and I suppose I should have put this in the book section, I have a couple of ID books (Higgins & Riley and Richard Lewington's little masterpiece) but I am looking for a book that will tell me more about the natural history of British butterflies, their structure, taxonomy, lifecycle etc. Does such a book exist?
Cheers
Robin
So what do you all do now?

In terms of books and deeper (scientific) detail, including taxonomy, I'd recommend
The Moths and Butterflies of Great Britain and Ireland Volume 7 (1) Hesperiidae to Nymphalidae (the Butterflies)
by Maitland Emmet and John Heath. See

Although you can probably pick it up at a good bookstore since Amazon is quoting 4-6 weeks.
Cheers,
