Hi Timerine,
Looks like one of the Heliconid species of butterfly - not native to the UK, so it must be an escapee from a butterfly house or collector. Maybe someone else on here will be able to tell you the exact species, but there are quite a few :wink:

Perhaps the extremely variable Eueides isabella. Definitely an escapee!

Tiger longwing? Heliconius hecale I got one identified for me at a butterfly farm I was at, so it could be that its variable:

That's what I thought LOL! We are close to Berkeley Castle and they have a butterfly house there so that makes sense :mrgreen:
