Here's a pearl-bordered fritilllary (actually, more than one), feeding on bugle and then taking minerals, taken today:

And here's a Glanville fritillary, taken last weekend:

Re: A couple of frit vids
Thanks for sharing Guy - great stuff (worth waiting for the download!). A couple of observations/questions:
1. I assume that's a male Adonis Blue with the Glanville male?
2. The second part of the PBF vid looks, to me, like a Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary.
Keep 'em coming
Cheers,
- Pete

Re: A couple of frit vids
I'll have to examine the video carefully to be sure, but I think there are simply a few PBF in those woods with very dark borders. Here's one (not the same one as in the video):Pete Eeles wrote:2. The second part of the PBF vid looks, to me, like a Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary.
And a glimpse of the underside of this individual:
I was interested to see them taking minerals, something I don't really associate with the species:

Re: A couple of frit vids
Here's a detail from a frame of the video:
Sadly, it's pearl-bordered! I say 'sadly' because SPBF is much scarcer in Switzerland.
Guy
PS - yes, that was a male Adonis blue with the Glanville frit.
