How did they get this Brimstone to open its wings ? Is it an ex-Brimstone ?

I saw that too and asked myself the same question. They never open there wings, well not when I have seen them anyway. Only once did I see one open its wings like that, but it got trapped in a window and it was rescured.

This looks very very dodgy to me. Let's hope whoever took the photo simply "stunned" the butterfly somehow, before it flew away.

The whole butterfly, including the body, seems so close to the leaf it is on that I can't believe it's standing on legs. Sometimes pictures can be misleading, and real life caught in a moment can look awkward, but it does look very much like a dead butterfly to me.

Just remembered I got a pic of a Speckled Wood basking early in the morning that looks as though it is pinned!
