Remember to backup your stuff when its updated

Post by Dave McCormick »

I was working on my website, which is on my external USB western digital HD, which is basically a laptop Hard disk with a USB board that allows it to connect external. It holds all of my photos, my website, my dads website and important work of mine, including the butterfly book I am working on.

I backed it up about 3-4 weeks ago (really should have sooner) and I accidently stood on the drive when I was using it on my laptop and working on website. It has now failed. (I don't think I lost any work, just needs a new external USB connection board and case)

I am going to see if I can get the data back, but for anyone who has important images or files they don't want lose, after what's happened to me, I am going to backup my drive every time I modify something on it that day. But at least the only thing I have modified on the drive since backup was my website and dads website, all my photos are safe and my book I am working on is safe too.

I am hoping to have my new updated website up and running by the end of the year, but this is a setback and if I get my drive fixed I am going to take better care of it.

For all who use small external drives to store work, might want to back it up regular if you modify data on it a lot just incase something happened to me like it did.
Cheers all,
