Aberdeen?

Post by Jack Harrison »

The latest BC Magazine "Butterfly" says on Page 13:
It's [Wall Brown] steadily advancing north along Scotland's coasts, reaching Aberdeen on the east coast and Ayr on the west.
Surely not?

I can believe it, Jack. Other species are creeping northwards too.

Sadly, Wall Browns are becoming scarcer down here in south Wales. This 'development trap' may well be to blame.

I moved to my present house in NE Scotland in 2015.  I knew that Comma was on its way, but would I live long enough to see them in this area?
It arrived in 2019, and I saw my first the following year.  Comma was egg lying in my garden last month.

So my challenge - and incentive - now (at the age of 84) is to live long enough to see Wall Browns up here.
