2022 Outstanding Contribution Award

Post by Pete Eeles »

The UK Butterflies Outstanding Contribution Award for 2022 has been awarded to Ben Greenaway, which was presented while co-leading a Greenwings tour in the Italian Alps with UKB team members David Moore and Pete Eeles. Ben is known for the incredible field work he has undertaken regarding the lifecycle of the Purple Emperor butterfly, as well as his studies on parasitoids, especially those related to the Small Tortoiseshell, and the use of UV light in detection of immature stages. You can appreciate Ben's work in his personal diary here: https://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/phpBB/v ... 29&t=10905

A nice reward for all the hours of research and effort dedicated to the study of life cycles. I was privileged to witness the 'award ceremony', over a Birra Moretti in an Alpine hotel. :)

Congratulations once again, Ben.

And that's a thumbs-up from me, too! Ben's reports have brightened-up many a gloomy evening for me. Real dedication & enlightening analysis for those like myself who are mere amateurs

Many thanks all! With the calibre of many of the previous winners clear to see, it’s extremely flattering to even be considered!

I certainly enjoy digging deeper into the ecology of various species and am delighted my thoughts/findings (albeit often speculative!) are of interest to others.

Thanks again to Pete and everyone involved in UKB for providing and maintaining such a brilliant platform and growing a community so rich in knowledge and enthusiasm.
