Thank you Lawts and Rosalyn. I have that childlike Christmas Eve excited feeling about seeing this Lifer for me.

Last Saturday meant a session at Queensdown Warren in Kent (i hadnt visited this site for several weeks) so it made for a nice return. Highlights were - female Adonis, Brown Argus and what looked to be a gravid female Grizzled Skipper. Numbers were still on the low side, but over 10 species seen on the day. No images are cropped. Cheers Paul.

Female Adonis (one of several seen).

I agree Otep. Mainly due to our appalling weather here. I think we both need to move South!

It was better further south. My rough look at the local weather for May (Heathrow) shows it was more than a degree warmer than average, and considerably warmer than May 2021. Rainfall was about 75% of average, but sunshine was also only 75% of average. There were in consequence quite a lot of warm bright days, which are actually better than brilliant sunshine for butterfly photography. I'll have a more detailed look at May in my PD in due course.

Cheers,

Dave

Similar thing here too. We've had plenty of cloud but not much rain. Even when it has rained it hasn't been heavy.

I would have to say for me, here in Kent, May has been a very good month this year :D
Not only for Butterflies, but also for work (since i work outside) i dont think i got rained off much at all :D

Its been the best May i can remember, for not suffering much with Hayfever...however, that all changed on Thursday (2/6/22) my Hayfever exploded in a big way :x ...............oh well, it was good while it lasted  Cheers Paul.

We haven't had a lot of rain to be fair. It has been very cloudy with a strong wind most days & temperatures have been quite low. On a few occasions a reasonable forecast has not materialised. All in all, not very good for butterflies.

A little something from today at Epsom Common which will hopefully turn up in my PD at some point, but laptop issues may delay the full report.
