Small Heath type in extremadura

Small Heath type in extremadura

In the U.K. I’d call this small Heath but the markings seem very defined and I don’t know what else there is out here

Small Heaths vary widely across Europe, Owen, both in size and wing pattern.

I have no doubt that this is what the above butterfly is. It can't realistically be anything else.

Thanks. Yes I was happy with it as SH, felt it was quite smart compared to some. Just wanted to double check as I don’t have my book with me as the circles were quite defined

On birdforum it’s being suggested that it is split as espers Heath in Andalusia

Definitely Small Heath Owen. This one was in the Sierra Nevada. The Southern Spanish version is striking.
