Walton Common Near bristol

Post by OwenE »

Been looking for Grizzled skipper sites to try in the upcoming weeks and found some online stuff on Walton Common just outside Bristol that is pretty convenient for me. Mentions Green Hairstreak and Dingy Skipper as well as Grizzled so it sounds like it could be a useful place in my quest to up my butterfly list. Anyone here got any experience of it?

There's a great site for Grizzled Skippers just a few junctions west of you, Owen. Merthyr Mawr, near Ogmore-on-Sea is nailed on for them, and I'd expect them by mid-April the way things are going at the moment. If you need more information let me know.

I think I probably will have a look on Merthyr mawr. Local birders have said their easy there but other people have said they are easy to miss but the Bristol site is only about 10 minutes further from me and seems to have a few other species I haven’t seen or don’t see in wales.
