Wood White - Favourite Photo of 2021

Week 20

The final week, we made it! Spring should be just round the corner now so it looks like we’re finishing just in time.

Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos as then it will be easier to keep track of things? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As in previous years details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.

Have a goodun and stay safe

This species was delayed considerably by the chilly spring and I didn't catch up with them at Chiddingfold until the end of May. However, that first brood was still flying (just!) when the first Emperors appeared in mid July. The most memorable shots came from my second visit on 30th May, when Bugboy and I made a detour on our way back from the annual trip to Cotley Hill for Marshies. Males and females were both flying, there was lots of interaction...
