I rather like your open wing shot, she looks nice and fresh.
The site now looks very good, I was pleased to see Creeping Thistle in the meadow,
just outside the fenced area, males like these at Shipton Bellinger.

Stay safe,
Trevor.

Good to see you too Katrina. It's been a long time!!
It seems you had more luck after I had left, but really pleased to have seen the ones I did, especially the nice fresh looking one that William found and you called me over for!!

Great day out by the looks of things, Katrina. :D

I love the way you describe the last individual as 'my hairstreak'. There's nothing finer that finding one yourself, is there? :)

Definitely, the ones you find yourself are always more satisfying to photograph

Amazing! Tiny areas of blue within the black of the upperside hindwings. In all these years I'd never noticed that.

Must enlarge a few of my old images myself.

All that Glitters isn't Glitter

Post by Katrina »

I went to Anchor bottom this morning hoping to catch some Adonis warming up with open wings.
As it happens I needn't have gone so early.
There was a lot of dew.
Later I had a particularly amazing few minutes that I will remember for some time with Adonis swirling around me on and ?swallows swirling around above.
I found a glittery female Adonis.

Thank you, shame about the nic and slightly out of focus but she was so beautiful.

Does anyone have any tips on getting the wings in focus when they are not flat?

A truly beautiful set of shots - the dew covered Adonis is fantastic  8)
I find standing back and then cropping more works for me but I'm sure there's also something about setting the f-stop and changing the ISO AND you're already back a way anyway :? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :?

Lovely female Adonis, Katrina - the contrast between the dark wings, red-orange spots and the glittering blue sparkles is brilliant. :)

Cheers,

Love that dew-encrusted Adonis female, Katrina, as well as the pair of bees which look as though they are praying for the sun to return. :)
