Queen of Spain Fritillary

Post by Vince Massimo »

I have just received photos of a Queen of Spain Fritillary seen at a site in East Kent. It was seen by Lincoln Fishpool on 24th June, so many thanks to him for drawing it to my attention.

I am just holding back on further details until I get some advice on publishing the information, so watch this space.

Shall look forward to hearing more about this.

Haven't had too many of this species migrating over lately.

I can now confirm that the sighting was at a junction of footpaths in Eggringe Forest (TR08965 49968), near Denge Wood. The site is publicly accessible.

Could any further sightings be reported here and could someone provide the contact details of the Kent County recorder please.

I saw this pop up a few times on twitter last night so I imagine the twitchers will be heading down there today.

Cheers,

Neil.

There'll be some very wet twitchers if they go to Kent today
