Brilliant set of shots Trevor - four purple wings I can't wait for the the Spring - I hope it's a good one this year- we all deserve a bit of a break from the doom and gloom
I remember that start to the season - I was trapped in Wales at the Out-laws and it was cold and wet , luckily I manged to get back just in time for one or two of the decent days It would be nice to think that we might get some decent butterfly days soon
Remember it well, Trevor, and by the look of things we might be in for a repeat from Saturday with winds from the Azores due to arrive and boost us into the teens centigrade!
Great start Trevor We're having a tough old time over here in the West as we keep getting hit by fronts coming in - still fingers crossed for the weekend
I wasn't expecting Red Admirals either, Trevor. I really thought the cold spell with sustained subzero temperatures would have hit these light sleepers really hard. That last one looks rather new - it's always possible it could be a migrant having recently hatched in warmer climes and been whisked here on last week's southerly winds. The coastal fringe of Sussex is well-placed for such things. You'll get an early Cloudie at this rate!
After my early Brimstone it looks like I've really fallen behind in sightings, I'm still waiting to add a second butterfly to 2021 tally and looking out the window on my day off at the thick grey clouds it looks like my wait will continue. On the plus side I got my first jab later today so I might be able to shake your hand if we meet somewhere this year
