PURPLE HAIRSTREAK AB. OR SUNLIGHT ANGLE ?

Post by Devon Dave »

DSCN6180 (2).JPG
Hi all,
just seen and got a quick shot of this female ? Purple hairstreak taken in full sun at 6:40 this evening. I cant decide is she an Ab form with Purple only on left wing ? Or is it just the angle of the sun on her not illuminating the purple on the right wing. She flew off before I could get any different angle shots. Any thought or confirmations welcome.

I would suspect its simply the angle playing tricks, much like when you only get purple on one wing with of a grounded Emperor. It can sometimes be really difficult the get the purple iridescence even if you have them at close range. Good context shot though :)
