Re: Trevor
Like Wurzel, I think that shot of the White Admiral and Purple Emperor is great Goldie
Re: Trevor
Nice combo, Trevor. Seems Emperors are more tolerant on the ground than they are in the air!

Great to see Trevor Mind you I'm already thinking about Spring - I watched Waitrose staff putting out Easter Eggs on Christmas Eve

Re: Trevor
Cheers, Wurzel. That sounds about right.
I stayed with my Daughter over Christmas, and as well as the Children, she has a Spaniel called Jess.
This Dog is very bright and never fails to amaze with some of her antics.
On Friday evening I was eating a bag of crisps, naturally the Dog was hoping to have some too, but
scrounging is discouraged for obvious reasons. Not to be put off in her quest for a crisp she went off to
fetch her food dish and placed it squarely on my lap, the ultimate hint!. I gave in and placed a crisp
in her bowl as a reward for this ingenious hound!. The bowl was promptly replaced on my lap after
I had put it on the floor, and yes she won another crisp.
All this from a Dog that's only about nine months old.

Re: Trevor
Always a great sight, Trevor. Means things are on the right path.
I saw a bumble bee and a celandine in flower on 29th so it shows how mild things have been lately.
PS - love the story about Jess - what a beautiful dog.
Re: Trevor
A DAY FOR THE OPTIMIST !.
Today is the middle day of the mid-Winter month, which suggests that as from today
things err towards Spring. As we are all aware, as far as the weather is concerned,
we are far from out of the woods yet.
But this clump of Daffodils in South road car park, Hailsham, is in full bloom, and
has been for about a week.
Hope you enjoy this unseasonable spectacle!.

Love your shot of the Dog Trevor, it's going to be a real handful when full grown, Can't wait to hear about it's antics then
Love the Daffodils too Goldie

Re: Trevor
Love those daffs, Trevor. I saw my first of the year at Aberglasney Gardens yesterday, along with carpets of snowdrops and they fair gave me a lift.
Doubtless there'll be a few more out this weekend as me march on inexorably towards spring.

Re: Trevor
Many thanks, Goldie and David.
Those Daffodils grow on a south facing bank, which gives them a head start.
In 2015 some were out on Boxing Day, they never manage to last until Easter!.
All the best, both.
Trevor.

Re: Trevor
I saw my first Daff this weekend Trevor - it was a lonely looking individual and with the current cold weather it was probably wondering why it had bothered to open up Still onwards and upwards, hopefully it won't be too long until I get 2020 butterfly number 2

Re: Trevor
Cheers, Wurzel, did you manage an image of your first 2020 sighting ?.
Quite a few singletons have been reported around here, but none for me yet.
My own effort with a Moon shot from a few years ago.
Camera hand held, I don't have a tripod.
Not too long now,
Trevor.

Re: Trevor
Cracking moon shot Trevor Unfortunately I didn't manage a shot as it was keeping up high and also I'm a fair bit out of practice Still not long now - generally second week of Feb for Small Torts in the Salisbury area

Re: Trevor
Many thanks, David & Wurzel.
David, out of many shots of the moon that evening, two came out OK, and that was the best one.
More to do with the image stabilisation capabilities of the camera than skill on my part.
Wurzel, if you are out of practice, now is the time to limber up that trigger finger to get it
nice and quick for the Sussex Black Hairstreak this coming June. Talking of which, hope those
brownie points are stacking up nicely.
Coming to Wilts for the half term, will look out for early Small Torts.
Best regards both,
Trevor.

Re: Trevor
Good luck with the Small Torts Trevor - I've seen them on the 16th and 17th February before although I was a little later last year as I was in Wales during the balmy start to the season. I think it might be all stations go for the Blackstreak this year, fingers crossed that I don't get "double booked"

Re: Trevor
One of the challenges I have set myself for the coming season is to obtain
an image of a male Purple Hairstreak showing full purple. There is a young
Lady who I see around when out and about, who has taken some annoyingly
brilliant images of male PH displaying full glowing purple.
Hopefully I will have the opportunity to obtain a rival shot this year.
