A French Alps Mystery
A French Alps Mystery
In 2017 I spent most of a week staying in the village of St. Francois Longchamps, in the Savoie region of France. It was brilliant for butterflies and I think I've managed to identify just about everything I saw and photographed except for one specimen. A couple of cropped photos are attached, not too great, but hopefully good enough. I'd appreciate any input.

Re: A French Alps Mystery
Hi, Andy. This is one for the moth experts; it's not a butterfly.
I've seen it myself in France but can't remember what it's called.

Re: A French Alps Mystery
That looks about right. I wondered if it might be a moth as I couldn't find it in Tolman.Medard wrote:Latticed Heath Chiasmia clathrata. perhaps ?
Thanks Medard!

Thanks for that, Jim. I'll try to remember it in future!
