Help with a couple from Italy please.

Post by dragnil »

Images captured last week in northern Italy, lowland in the Po valley. I'm guessing (!), being more experienced in birds than butterflies, that the larger orange chappy is a Fritillary - Silver-washed? The other has me stumped and I'm still finding the Collins guide a bit intimidating. Any help with identification will be gratefully received - Thanks.

The orange one is indeed a male silver-washed fritillary. The last picture shows a speckled wood.
