Northern Brown Argus aberration?

Post by DaveO'B »

I was at Howe Ridding Wood in Cumbria yesterday, where I found a female Northern Brown Argus with pale-yellow lunules instead of the usual orange. This aberration has been named ab. pallidior in Brown Argus, but I can't find a reference to it occurring in Northern Brown. Has anyone else encountered one of these?

Cheers,

Dave

Saw something similar 7 years ago, but no upperside shot, only underside...

Nice! I didn't get a look at the underwing of mine, as a male chased it every time it settles!

Cheers,

Dave
