Wasp mimic?

Image Any ideas anyone? Seen at Durleston last Saturday - large wasp size.

Looks like the Hover-fly Volucella zonaria

Looking at other photographs on the net, it certainly appears to be zonaria. A fearsome beastie, nontheless!!

Yes they are! I've never seen one, though apparently they are moving north so maybe one day in the near future.
