How many different species in half a day?

I believe bird watchers have a competition each year on 1 January to see the most species in a day.
Last Saturday Paul Millward and I visited 3 sites on the IOW: Shalcombe Down, Walters Copse and the fields opposite my house in Branstone.
We saw 24 species in about 4 hours!
Large, small, green-veined and marbled white; dingy, small and Essex skipper; silver -washed and dark green fritillary; red and white admiral; small tortoiseshell and peacock; comma; common,holly,small and chalkhill blue; brown argus;gatekeeper, meadow brown and ringlet; speckled wood and brimstone.
How can any other county do in half a day?

Cool how you saw so many in one day, wish I could see that many. Think the most I ever saw in one day was:

Large White, Small White, Green Veined White, Small Copper, Common Blue, Peacock, Painted Lady, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, Ringlet, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown and holly blues. 13 species, but there is only around 21 or so species of butterfly found in Northern Ireland, so I saw over half of them in a 2-3km patch or so
