Dammit, I've had some glorious opportunities this month and I can't make up my mind. But there's something about this large white female that just keeps drawing me back so I'm going for this one.

Sony A700, 70-210 F4 'Beercan' zoom, 1/320, F8, iso200, Av mode, hand held, natural light, image stabilisation on, pattern metering.

My first 'dip in the water' as far as this monthly competition is concerned...

Taken on Saturday 12th July at Southwater Woods, near Horsham, West Sussex using a Canon 40D and Canon 180mm Macro lens plus monopod.

I'm starting to get out after a long slow recovery from an Achilles tendon injury (going for a sympathy vote!) and it's just great to be taking pictures again!
My entry is this Comma, my best picture of the year so far.
