Camberwell Beauty

Post by Simon-in-Kent »

Hi all - just joined. Interesting to read all the posts.

I reared some Camberwells last year, and most of them lived several months, as expected. I've still got one that is very much alive 12 and a half months on - it emerged as an adult right at the beginning of July 2007. Even for a hibernating species this is pretty good going, I reckon! Any comments? Anyone ever had an adult butterfly live this long?

Best wishes,

I bet he's looking quite tatty now!

Brimstone are reported to regularly exceed a year old in the wild and are in fact the longest lived butterfly in the world (or the Monarch depending on what you read)
With Kind Regards
