Life Cycles of British and Irish Butterflies

Post by Pete Eeles »

Just to let you all know that I've created a website for the book I'm writing, where you can find sample pages etc.:

http://www.butterflylifecycles.com

The book comes out in October 2019 and I'll be making some noises (on Twitter etc.) soon about supporting the book, but wanted everyone here to get an early opportunity to sponsor the book - and thanks in advance!

Blimey Pete! This book looks superb & covers all the life stages too which is largely missing from most butterfly books in this day & age! I am sure you will sell many copies. What is the approximate publication price of the book & is there a pre-publication offer too? Finally, is it a hardback book? Well done with all your efforts.

It's not yet been decided, but I do know that it's going to be 400 pages.
lee3764 wrote:Is there a pre-publication offer too?
Yes, there will be. I'm not sure when this will be available but you'll hear about it here :)

Yes - details are at http://www.butterflylifecycles.com/about-the-book/

Apologies in advance, but I just want to "bump" this thread since, in 24 hours time, I'll be tweeting about the book website to our 33,000 followers and don't want UKB members to miss out.

And so - if you would like to support a species - then you're more likely to get your species of choice if you do so now ... and thanks in advance!

Cheers,

- Pete

Hi Pete I have sponsored a butterfly for your new book and it looks amazing! Just the sort of book every butterfly lover needs! I'm sure it will be a great success fingers crossed and all the best :) P.S. Do we get a confirmation email just so we know it's gone through OK?

Thanks Nicola - you can never have enough butterfly books, although my wife would disagree :) No confirmation emails are sent, but your request came through ok - and thanks for the support!

Apologies for this shameless plug, but since many UKB members have contributed photos or helped with reviews, I thought you might like to know that the book can now be pre-ordered (and you get a £10 off the full price):

https://www.naturebureau.co.uk/bookshop ... ies-detail

On Wednesday night I completed the final species description (Large Blue) and so this season is about completing the design, getting better photos and acknowledging any last-minute discoveries!

Cheers,

- Pete

P.S. I did check with the site admin that it was ok to post 8)

Me too. :) Can't come soon enough. Looks like I'll have something to keep my mind off the dreary period towards the end of winter this year!

Hi all - I thought I should mention a decision that we (the publisher and I) have made, which is that each species supporter will not only get their name in the book, but also a signed copy of the book itself for each species supported :)

Still a few slots available: http://www.butterflylifecycles.com/become-a-supporter/

Do we still have to order a copy even if we've sponsored a species?

Thanks,

Kevin.
