Any ideas?

Post by David1952 »

I imaged these in my garden a few days ago.

Can anyone confirm my tentative ID's?

David

Mazarine Blue for sure in the first image, but the latter two have the look of Common Blue to me.

Whereabouts do you live, David (1952, not M)?

These were taken in my garden in Normandy. I have a large patch of marjoram which the butterflies love.

Thanks for the IDs

Stunning photos of your very beautiful garden visitors. I have Maroram taking over my garden but no lovelies like these feeding off them :( thank you for sharing these pictures David1952 :)

Marjoram is a great nectar source but is mainly used by the smaller butterflies - Gatekeepers in particular love it. Because on the whole they do not fly so far, if the breeding grounds are not nearby they may struggle to find their way to the marjoram.
