Hi all,
new to the forum, just signed up (thanks Pete)
I'm trying to ID some tiny caterpillars, I'm hoping they're Red admirals but they don't really match any pictures and I don't want to lovingly rear what ends up to be a fly! (Moths are ok though)
Single caterpillars on top side of nettle leaf in a silky web
Many thanks in advance for a yes or no on that. Mm ruler in pic for scale
Cheers
Tracey

Re: Larva ID help please
Hi Tracey - I'm pretty sure that this is a moth larva, I'm just not sure which. Quite a few species feed on nettle (e.g. Mother-of-Pearl). Others might have a better idea of the species.

Re: Larva ID help please
Hi Tracey - it is definitely a moth larva, I'm afraid, and I can't really help much further! I can exclude butterflies, and sawflies.
Cheers,
- Pete
