If you mean Green Haistreaks ( ), then they answer is "yes". They've been out for a couple of weeks at certain sites in Hampshire.

Sorry - It is just that I have seen that it is also the composition, rather than the traditional fill the frame that I know I started with that helps improve the image and convey a more pleasing message to the eye. On these pages, you are the one who executes this skill most consistently....and this has helped me think a lot more about the final image. So ....along with everyone on UKB....thanks for the inspiration to keep improving.

Went to Denge Wood in Kent last Sunday and saw quite a few Greenstreaks. Sjowing well in fact, better than I've seen them before.

The dukes were out too BTW.

Oh Yea baby! Today I saw my first ever Green Hairstreak, well actually at least three at West Yatton.

"Sussexkipper" and I both photographed this little beauty at Devils Dyke (north of Brighton, not the Cambs DD). I haven't seen Neil's pictures on screen but on his camera, they were significantly better than my efforts.

Managed to get out today and got c25 Green hairstreaks. Great first viewings of a Butterfly i've never seen before.

Well done on a first (or a quarter century). They are really lovely butterflies aren't they?

I have looked at your photos and venture to make a suggestion. Several of your pictures are over-exposed. I have always followed the advice I was given a long time ago and that is to under-expose by 1/3 stop. This avoids burnt out highlights. Slight under-exposure can easily be dealt with by PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro. Washed out highlights are lost for ever.

My pictures aren't a patch on the others on this thread but I am learning and the Green Hairstreak is such a lovely subject to practice on.

These were taken at Denbies Hillside near Dorking today.
