French Alps - ID Requests

Last week I was in the Briancon area ( Valley of the Clarée) and have some outstanding ID Requests.

Anyone who can help here ? I numbered the butterflies. Thanks in advance.

No 6 looks like osiris to me... rather than semiargus.... check the unh spotting, Guy explained the differences once to me when I had confused the same two species.

From a quick glance, #6 looks like minimus.

Sorry - I didn't notice this request when it was first posted.

1, 2 and 3 I would suggest are alcon rebeli.

4 - yes, semiargus.

5 - rebeli again.

6 - definitely not semiargus. It is either minimus or osiris and I don't know any reliable way of telling them apart from the underside alone. The plant (sainfoin), which is the foodplant of osiris, suggests osiris. Both are very variable in the spotting. Maybe Roger will explain ...

7 - semiargus.

8 - malvae/malvoides

9, 10 - I see nothing to say these are not athalia but I couldn't identify them positively either from the underside alone.

11, 12 - compatible with aurelia but athalia does not infrequently have a darker marginal band like that. I use flight and jizz for aurelia - and sometimes it is inconclusive.

13, 14 - argus/idas - again, I don't know anything definitive from the underside alone. Intuitively, I favour argus.

15, 16 - I like these for aurelia but couldn't say for certain.

Thanks a lot for the information. Belgian season is coming to an end, although some 2nd -3rd generations aristocrats are flying around in my garden.

Some nice season from my side, although I missed again the populi species . For those interested to see my photographic 2016 list, following http://www.pyrgus.com/koken/content/ . Maybe some errors in the identification are still there, so any comments are very welcome.
