Caterpillars for Identification Please. Thank You ..

Post by Mike Robinson »

Super-sorry to bother but whilst on Dartford Heath (NW Kent) yesterday we came across lots of these characters.

We wonder if they might be Large White Butterfly Caterpillars please?

Thank You .....

They are not butterfly caterpillars, possibly not a moth either. I think they have too many legs for that, not sure. My instinct would be a Sawfly larva

Thanks; I tend to think of all Caterpillars being Butterfly Caterpillars!
Once again, thank you ...

Hi Mike

These could be one of the Ermine micro moth caterpillars, either Apple, Spindle or Orchard.

Cheers
