This day flying moth was found in Grizzled Skipper habitat on 3rd May. It fooled me for no more than a millisecond as the jizz was just wrong for a Grizzled Skipper. But the size and colour in flight were not far off Grizzled.
I'm sure it's a common enough species but the vaguely "superficial" likeness to Grizzled Skipper might just fool the unwary.
And what is that common moth that can often make some think that they have found a Dingy Skipper? Latticed Heath? Common Heath? I'm no good with moths.
Jack

Hi Jack,
Looks like on the the "Carpets" to me - maybe Wood Carpet: http://www.ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=258
Latticed Heath is another candidate for a Grizzled Skipper: http://www.ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=66
As for Dingy Skipper, possibly Burnet Companion: http://www.ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=2645
Cheers,
- Pete

That's Common Carpet - Eppirhoe alternata...distinguished from the others by the thin grey line running thrugh the outer white band.
