Off on my Hols!

Post by jellyang »

Now off to Mexico for a family wedding & a bit of a chill out! 8)

I think I might just find time for a bit of Butterfly hunting, if all else fails they have some kind of Eco centre with a butterfly house :) nearby.

When I get back next week I expect to see a heatwave & lots of reports of rare species in the east of England. I'm sure thats not too much to ask ???

Hi Angie,
Do you mean Xcaret - if so it is a fantastic place to visit - 3500m2 free flight area. When we went we had to go back twice as it was so good. If you do go it is worth staying for the evening show which is breathtaking!
Have fun

cheers

Back from my Hols!

Yes George it was Xcaret, I stayed in the Hotel at the park for a family wedding.

I have overdosed on Butterflies for a whole week :D . It was difficult to get close up photos as not many seemed to settle for any length of time. Flutterbys would be a better description.

Now I have to decide which memory card to look at first Wedding or Butterflies????

The forcast is for a reasonable weekend in the East , so here's hoping some home grown varieties will be about.

I'd recommend the butterflies first - so that you can then upload the images here and cheer us all up, given the depressing weather we've had :)

Cheers,

Im glad you had a good holiday. Im off to Playa del Carmen in 5 weeks. Looking forward to visiting Xcaret. Im hoping to see some morpho's in the wild. Does anyone know what is the best time of year to see them?

I stayed in Tulum a few years ago and saw morphos in February. You certainly know when you've seen one! You'll have to go into the jungle a bit... in my (brief) experience, they like the clearings around cenotes.

If you want to get blue morpho to follow you, or get closer to one, you might try waving a cloth that is blue near it, it may see it and follow it, mistaking it for another morpho. That technique has been used to capture morphos in the wild before.

I hope they are out in june/july. I've heard that Coba is a good place to look for them.
