Duke of Burgundy mating pair

Post by Barrie »

A visit to Noar Hill Wednesday 20th April on a sunny morning produced this paired couple.
Counted three in all, with an orange tip flying in search of a mate.

Well done, Barrie. Most of us are struggling to see any butterfly species, let alone two Dukes mating!

I recognise those butterflies, Barrie. I was one of the (several) other observers with whom they generously shared this intimate moment. A splendid way to kick off your diary! :)
