....... if I can go there without harming anyone else or compromising their rights or property in any way, I feel quite justified, particularly since, as you state, disused railways often become de-facto public places.
In fact, I cover a lot of ground on my mountain-bike on the by-ways and tracks and paths around Cambridge. It is not always on official public rights of way, but when I err, it is mostly simply to link between official rights of way to avoid roads as much as possible! I hope to sneak a look at Over myself very soon too...I wonder if the promised cycle-path along the route is ready yet...?
