Hi All
Can anyone identify this butterfly please?
The thing is, I'm not sure it is a UK butterfly -- it might be a tropical one.
It was photographed at Earnley Butterflies, Birds and Beasts in Earnley, England, United Kingdom on 20 September 2012.
Many thanks

Hi margarine77.
Welcome to UK Butterflies.
You are correct in that this is not a British species. The butterfly you have photographed is The Clipper (Parthenos sylvia). It originates from south and southeast Asia and occurs in several colour forms including blue and brown.
Hope that helps.
Kind regards. Mark
