BBC - Nine Fluttery Facts

Post by MikeOxon »

I recently came across this collection of butterfly info at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/article ... utterflies

I hadn't realised before, the 'sinister' connections associated with the Meadow Brown. Apparently, the generic name Maniola translates as ‘little spirit from hell’. I had, however, felt that there was something menacing about the one behind a Brown Hairstreak in my recent photo: download/file.php?id=75427&mode=view

the Meadow Brown does not seem very sinister... even a Cabbage White would be more threatening imho :?

Thanks for sharing that video Mike it was very interesting and in your photo it does look menacing, may be that's why they tried to mow them down at Hall-Lee-Brook recently  :D
