Re: Bilateral gynandromorph
Thats interesting. I have not seen something like that, closest thing I saw once was a gynandromorph poplar hawk moth, but good pic guy.
Cheers all,

Bearing in mind the date, and the recent discussions on Photoshop manipulations, it would be surprising NOT to see something like this posted!

Re: Bilateral gynandromorph
yeah thats true, seen things like that before being done, should be careful on this day not to get "fooled" and thinking on it, if you see the pic there, if it were a real gynandromorph, maybe it is or maybe not, the abdomen might look different sizes on each side, slightly.
Cheers all,

All this sketicism is quite hurtful. Whatever happened to simple trust?
I blame Gordon Brown.

Re: Bilateral gynandromorph
There was a photo in the Somerset BC branch newsletter a while back of a silver-washed fritillary, one half male, the other half valezina female.

Re: Bilateral gynandromorph
Not a butterfly, but this page shows a moth which has recently hatched at the natural History museum in London. It apparently even appears to have a line down the centre of it's body where male and female areas merge...
