this bird was at Totternhoe a few days ago. its song was similar to a Yellowhammer, but sufficiently different to make me wonder....

i took a risk with the weather this morning and went to Totternhoe Quarry. fortunately the rain held off & there was an hour or so of enough sunshine to persuade the Dukes to pop out :) the first butterfly i saw was a female Orange Tip. a Dingy Skipper appeared as well. 52883855916_22d913c1d6_c....

i saw this Small Heath at Sundon Chalk SSSI on Wednesday

First Orange Tip and Holly Blue of the season !

both near the lagoons at Grafham Water.

no Green Hairstreaks there yet.

i went to Barton Hills today ( in Bedfordshire )

i saw a Green Veined White
no sign of the Orange Tips yet....

walked for several miles round Little Paxton Nature Reserve today. plenty of sunshine.

Peacocks and male Brimstones aplenty. one Small White

I am loving this adventure in the mountains of Turkey ! so many butterflies, many of which i have never heard of.

i went to Grafham Water this morning. a few Speckled Woods, a Comma, a tired Common Blue, and, a Large White were the only butterflies around.

i did see this interesting wading bird:
it had narrow pointed wings in flight.
