Re: traplican

Today (20, Sat.Mar.2010) I saw a Comma (but not succeed in snapping) and a Peacock.

First it look like a sunny day but in the early afternoon cloud came in over.

Wild boars (Sus scrofa) probably engraved the voles on this meadow.

Re: Uknown caterpillar and pupa - help with ID please

Guy, can you confirm, that the butterfly on the pictures 5. and 6. above (" Aricia eumedon , male, July 21 2009, the Meadow Geranium grow on the humid humous soil") is really Eumedonia eumedon ? Here are all photos of this specimen: http://traplican.rajce.idnes.cz/Motyli_2009-07-21/#P09072...

Re: March sightings - Southern Brittany

Also of note were several active Common Lizards and a stunning Green Lizard ... Do you mean Lacerta agilis by the "Common Lizard"? I thing in English it is Sand Lizard (while here it is named in translation "Common Lizard", too). Common Lizard is English name for Lacerta vivipar...

Re: The 3rd Breed of the Scarce Swallowtail in the CE

Hi Guy, I have the whole article and they allude to a few of specimens only. Some of them have been observed in arroundings of Veľké Leváre , Slovakia, on October 10th. At that time they still consider it to be a local anomaly but then on October 16th they found a newly perished specimen near Radějo...

Re: alveus vs. armoricanus

Thans, Guy. Alveus is alleged on http://www.lepidoptera.cz as endangered while armoricanus as critically endangered. I only anticipate according this evidence that it is more probable to encounter alveus than armoricanus near me.

Re: alveus vs. armoricanus

Taken in SE Moravia (Czech Republic) , exactly here. Malvae is ruled out because the array of the boundary white spots on the frontwing is missing.

alveus vs. armoricanus

On August 25, 2009 I have snapped a grizzled skipper and I have identified one as Large Grizzled Skipper ( Pyrgus alveus ). But it may be also Oberthürs ( P. armoricanus ). Can solve on the pictures bellow if my determination is correct? http://img5.rajce.idnes.cz/d0506/2/2464/2464382_1434a15a0dd024...

Re: argus vs idas

Guy, I cannot help but on the last Paul's shot I see an orange color in the first patch of the first wing backside. Furthermore on the last three shots the black spots on the upperside of the back wings are distinctive and the black borders of the wings are thin. I enclose shots of my Reverdins' hab...

Re: argus vs idas

I thing it is imposible to determine after photos. I have determined my butterflies as argyrognomon because it is more probable: According to the authorities argyrognomon is frequent on apropriate places near me while idas is rare here. But in mapping I allege it as Plebejus idas/argyrognomon .
