Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Dear Woodnymph.........I am delighted for you after your long journey. Yes...very sad at the attack from all directions on the butterfly! This will probably mean that I won't ever have a reason to visit the site again. Why on earth do the National Trust pick now to want to get rid of the Everlastin...

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Thanks for the good wishes massages folks! Wouldn't have seen this species if this was not on this forum originally! It is very trying up there when it is windy as they don't like the wind & remain grounded. I'm sure there will be more seen if the weather allows! Best of luck to anyone visiting...

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Thank you Dave Brown for your help/advice. Fingers crossed to see at least 1 L.T.Blue. My 10 year old son, Robert will be well chuffed too making it his 53rd species in Britain for butterflies on British soil and his 50th this year!
Thanks & respect, 8)

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

I hope there are some Long-tailed Blues left for my family to see on Saturday and Sunday as we have to undertake a 700 mile round trip from Cornwall & have just paid £88.50 for a Family Room at a Premier Travel Inn for Saturday night to see this species on British soil! Netting this species jus...

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Are any of the Sussex sites as good as Kent for ltb? I would love to share this amazing experience but don't have too much time so the shorter the journey the longer I can spend looking for/at the wee beasties. Errrr.......Susie...You might have a bit of a wait if you miss this chance this year as ...

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Some great shots of the LTBs from everyone visiting the area. The little furry fellow has one white paw and one brown on its front legs, an ab maybe. It also appears to have a couple of large ticks on its head. I'm hoping to visit the area for the LTBs on Saturday as the weather forecast is for a l...

Re: July 2013

I had a couple of very interesting sightings a few weeks back at Perran/Penhale Dunes, Cornwall. The first came on the 7/713 close to caravan where there is a smallish colony of Silver Studded Blues. The second came from the main colony of Silver Studded Blues within the dunes about fifteen minutes...

Royal Mail Stamps showing British Butterflies July 2013

According to a couple of Stamp Collecting websites I understand that The Royal Mail are issuing a set of postage stamps depicting British Butterflies on 11th July, 2013. I know of no other details at all. Does anyone else know any more? This will be the 1st stamps set of British Butterflies since a...

Re: gorganus or britannicus?

In my study at home I still have an enlarged print from a slide I took at Hickling Broad in 1994 of ' Britannicus ' Swallowtail & comparing it to the photographs on the Cambridgeshire & Essex BC website I would 99% almost certain state that the Essex butterflies are the continental ' Gorgan...
