Re: Large Copper Kent

I don't know anymore about this, just came across the post on Facebook. I would guess it's an introduction but not sure whether it is just in his garden or elsewhere nearby. Maybe some of the local Kent observers might try and get in touch with him. It appears to be a self sustaining population if h...

Re: Sad news about a UK Butterflies member.

Very sad news indeed. All the previous comments say it all and I don't think I can add anything. I had the pleasure of Bill's company on a number of occasions.

Re: 2015 annual competition

Many thanks everyone. Obviously I'm pleased with the result but there were a lot of other superb photos this year that could easily have been placed too. Some great shots in there from Bob, Neil (lovely LTB) and Nigel to name but a few. And thanks too to Pete and the other judges for taking the time...

Re: October 2013

Notts today, 35+ Commas on a small area of brambles nectaring on the berries and enjoying the warm sunshine, plus 15 Speckled Woods and a few Red Admirals. Not seen so many Commas in one spot for a while.

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Very disappointed if people really have been netting these butterflies. Not only is it completely unjustifiable to kill any of them but it really spoils it for the many people who have made very long journeys and not been able to seen them. Hopefully the culprits will at least be photographed if the...

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

Have to agree with previous views on what to do with a net. We didn't see anyone netting on Wednesday thankfully and it has been busy all week I think so it might be difficult to get away with it.

Re: Long tailed Blues in Kent

We were definitely lucky with them yesterday, showing well off and on and mostly in good condition and good weather. Many thanks again to Neil for all the updates which helped get the timing of the visit right. Rather a lot of photos to sort through now :D
